The Godwhale

Concept design loosely based on the novel "The Godwhale" by T.J. Bass.

Rorqual Maru a living submarine, created from a gigantic genetically enhanced and cybernetically augmented whale. It that roams the dying oceans trying to preserve what little life it finds.

A crazy idea requires a crazy design. The problem of creating a living submarine meant incorporating many different forms of marine animals into the form of a sub, from jellyfish, squids, shrimp, and whales, obviously. to add flavour and sense of strangeness, I also used 3D fractals as inspiration for some of the textures, especially in the areas where flesh meets machine.
